I’ve been noticing that many female members of what my sister would refer as the "Look at me, I’m so alternative" crowd are sporting the Bettie Page look lately. Not so much the partial nudity, but the black hair with bangs, often paired with a smart early ’60s-style frock.
It makes me think two things:
- Whew, my bangs aren’t completely out of style, and
- I’ll bet their parents are breathing a sigh of relief that their daughters are carefully styling their hair and wearing dresses instead of piercing and tattooing miscellaneous areas of visible flesh.
Yeah, I’m getting old. What can I say?
